Sweet Styles for Spring Weddings

Lace Sleeve Wedding Dress

Lace Sleeve Wedding Dress

Wondering what’s hot and what is not so hot this spring season? So many bridal styles change with the season and location – indoors, outdoors, seaside or beachfront. Here’s a few upcoming styles for any perfect wedding locale.

Dotty and darling. Expect to see sweet feminine styles this spring. Whether there’s just a splash or all around pattern — we love the idea of dots, layered, polka, all kinds showing up in dresses for 2011.

Short and sweet. Short dresses are popping up everywhere, and not just for their fun and fabulous look! Many brides are even opting for two-in-one changeable dresses or hi-low wedding dresses, so they have the best of both – formal for the ceremony and fun for the reception!

Sleeves and sleeveless. More dresses are flattering figures with fine sleeves. It’s been a while since sleeves have been seen on first time wedding dresses, but now lots of younger brides are looking at capped or lace sleeve dresses.

As always the ball gown and tea length wedding dresses are still very much in style!  What new styles have you excited?

A Royal Wedding Playlist

Feb 25, 2011

WeddingWith the royal wedding drawing closer every day, we love to see what others have to say about the plans. While Middleton’s dress remains a mystery, their wedding playlist might not. DJ Sam Young, a fixture at London night clubs, recently released his top picks for the wedding playlist.

Some of our favorites include:

  • Michael Jackson — Billie Jean
  • Prince – Kiss, 1999
  • Stevie Wonder – Superstition, I Wish
  • Kings of Leon – Sex on Fire
  • Rolling Stones – Brown Sugar
  • Jay Z – Empire State of Mind
  • Journey – Don’t Stop Believing
  • Justin Timberlake – SexyBack
  • Queen – Another One Bites the Dust
  • Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling
  • Beyonce – Crazy in Love
  • Outkast – Hey Ya!
  • Rihanna – Only Girl in the World

While it hasn’t been confirmed that DJ Sam Young is working the wedding, we have a pretty good feeling that a playlist like this may make an appearance.

What songs are must haves on your playlist?

Wedding Fascinator

Wedding Fascinator

Modern, creative brides with their heart set on an untraditional dress may already have their eye on a fascinator!  For those brides unfamiliar, the fascinator is a growing headpiece trend seen in bridal outfits.

These dapper little headpieces are traditionally lacy head coverings made from lace or wool. Now you can find fascinators made with a variety of more modern materials, with beading, feathers or even flowers. Not a fan of pinning? These fancy headpieces are affixed in a variety of neat ways, with combs, clips or simple headband.

For a bride looking at retro or vintage styles, a fascinator may be the thing! We’ve seen a lot of modern takes on the traditional style, with bridal hat and veil headpieces, vintage hats, hats with flowers, etc.

We think we’ll be seeing a lot more of the younger fans of the unique styles opting out of traditional veils. There are always a variety of other options like tiaras and bridal headpieces here at

Wedding flowers, while beautiful, can be expensive. However, when done right, wedding flowers can make your day feel like a dream come true without going over budget.

Looking to have fresh flowers on your special day? Use our tips to save on your arrangements, bouquets, and more.

Know What to Spend
For a small wedding, expect to spend about $300-$500. If you’re having a medium wedding, $500-$800 should be a good amount to set aside. Finally, for a large wedding, $1,000-$2,000 could fit the bill.

Shopping for the Right Florist
Ask lots of questions and comparison shop. Plan early and have patience. Sorting out your florist should be something done early in the wedding planning schedule, so make the time to start handling the flowers now.

Try Inexpensive Blooms
One way to save on flowers is to choose inexpensive blooms, like baby’s breath, carnations, daisies, tulips, or hydrangeas. Also, always shop for flowers that are in season. Get them locally if you can to save on cost.
