Choosing the Perfect Bridal Shoe for Your Wedding

Jan 31, 2013

It’s your wedding day, and you’re absolutely allowed to be a shoe snob for this wondrous occasion! Sure, you might not be able to see your shoes when you look in the mirror, but wrapping your feet in anything less than spectacular is unacceptable. On your wedding day, your shoes should be just as fabulous as your veil and wedding dress. Here are a few helpful tips on how to find the perfect bridal shoes.

Contrasting colors can make you stand out! It’s fun and flirty to wear a shoe that doesn’t exactly match with your wedding dress. Choose a color that coordinates with something in your wedding décor, or make a statement with bold colors that differ from your white gown.

If you want to match, try and find bridal shoes that perfectly match your wedding dress. The differences between bright white and cream can be subtle at first, but when these two colors are close together, the difference is extremely noticeable.

Texture and material are extremely important to take into consideration. Leather pumps will appear less reflective and bright than a pair of patent leather pumps. Certain wedding dresses work with certain materials.

Make sure the shoes fit. Get your foot measured before purchasing shoes for your wedding. It’s also important to walk around with them on before the wedding to ensure they’re comfortable and not hazardous to walk in.

Most importantly – Find a shoe that really makes you swoon. Your wedding day should be as perfect as you want it to be from the décor to your shoes, make sure you’re satisfied and in love with whatever shoe choice you pick. There’s no reason to settle for anything but the best. If those Allure Bridal shoes are screaming your name, that’s how you know you’re making the right choice.

At DimitraDesigns.com we have a variety of bridal shoes to choose from, including Benjamin Adams bridal shoes and Allure Bridal shoes. If you have questions regarding your bridal shoes don’t hesitate to give us a call at our toll free number 866-866-0968. We look forward to helping make your wedding day one you’ll never forget!

Guide for the Bride: The Dos & Don’ts of Bridal Gown Shopping – Part 2

Jan 24, 2013

Last week we went over some of the things a bride should do as she’s shopping for a bridal gown. This week, in the second part of our Guide for the Bride blog series we’ll go over some of the don’ts of bridal gown shopping.

Don’t judge a dress by its cover. You won’t know if that tea length wedding gown will look amazing unless you try it on. Don’t bypass a dress that’s hanging on the rack just because you don’t think it will look right on you.  A bridal gown looks completely different on the body than it does hanging off the rack. Don’t limit yourself just because you don’t like it on the rack.

Don’t try on too many gowns. Don’t try on dress after dress. It’s a common mistake for brides to try on too many gowns in one appointment. This usually leads to an overwhelmed bride who might have known what she wanted when she first came in, but by the end of the appointment, has no idea.

Don’t be influenced by others. This is your day to shine and you should be in love with your wedding dress. Not your maid of honor, mother, mother-in-law, or anyone else who’s dress shopping with you.

Try to keep the entourage at home. We understand that you want to hear the opinions from close family and friends, as you try on wedding dress, but you may want to rethink this decision. The more people you bring to your appointment, the more opinions that could sway your final decision, which in the end is your decision to make and fall in love with!

At Dimitra Designs Bridal Emporium we have bridal consultants who specialize in making you feel beautiful and prepared for your special day. To request an appointment with the bridal consultants at Dimitra Designs please fill out our request appointment form, or call us toll-free at 866-866-0968. Guide for the Bride: The Dos & Don’ts of Bridal Gown Shopping – Part 1

Jan 18, 2013

Picture this. You’re standing at the back of the church, waiting until the music starts and it’s time to take the biggest steps of your life. The church is packed and every pew is filled with the familiar, smiling faces of your family and friends. Everyone stands and turns around as you begin a slow walk down the aisle towards the man you’re going to marry. With everyone watching you should be nervous, but in your couture wedding gown you know you look like a princess straight out of a Disney movie.

Every girl dreams about her wedding day, and if you want yours to be as perfect as the one we described there are a few things you have to remember when shopping for a bridal gown. In the first part of this two part blog series we’ll discuss some of the do’s of wedding gown shopping.

  • Make an appointment. An appointment will give your bridal gown shopping experience priority over the brides who did not make an appointment. At Dimitra Designs Bridal Emporium we have bridal consultants who specialize in making this important time a memorable one.
  • Bring pictures of styles you’ve seen online or in magazines. This will give the bridal consultant a better feel of what you want to look like on your wedding day.
  • Keep an open mind when you’re shopping. Your bridal consultant knows the inventory and has a great eye for what dresses would complement you, while keeping your unique style in mind.
  • Be upfront about the budget you have set for your wedding attire. One of the biggest mistakes that a bride-to-be can make is falling in love with a gown that is way out of your price range, which can make finding your dream dress a disappointment.
  • Enjoy yourself! All of the bridal consultants at Dimitra Designs Bridal Emporium want to help you find the perfect wedding dress, but most importantly want you to have a memorable experience.

To request an appointment with the bridal consultants at Dimitra Designs please fill out our request appointment form, or call us toll-free at 866-866-0968. Make sure you check back with us next week for part two of our guide to wedding dress shopping.

The Brides Guide to Rehearsal Dinner Dresses

Jan 10, 2013

More often than not the rehearsal dinner is an after thought for some brides. Many of us get so caught up in the excitement of the big day that we forget how important and memorable the rehearsal dinner actually is. Choosing a rehearsal dinner dress is an important part of preparing for the event. Here are some things to keep in mind as you choose your dress for the rehearsal dinner.

- What type of rehearsal dinner will you be having? Will it be an intimate event or an extravagant soiree? The type of party you’re throwing sets the tone for what type of dress the bride should wear.

- The dress you wear to the rehearsal dinner should be different than your wedding dress. As you’re shopping, look for a dress with characteristics unlike your wedding gown. For example, if your wedding dress is sleek and sophisticated, choose a rehearsal dinner dress that has fun details like a ruffled skirt.

- A rehearsal dinner is usually a more casual affair than the wedding, so think of delicate details, like a short cocktail dress or a pastel colored evening dress.

- Most importantly, choose a dress that you’re comfortable in. If you’re uncomfortable then you’re going to appear that way to the guests at your rehearsal dinner.

Dimitra Designs Bridal Emporium has a wonderful selection of rehearsal dinner dresses. Call us toll free at 866-866-0968 or stop by our Greenville, SC bridal store to learn more about how Dimitra Designs can help you choose the best dress for your rehearsal dinner.
