Homecoming Theme Ideas

Sep 30, 2010

Homecoming is one of the most important events on the high school calendar. It’s the party that gets the year rolling in a really festive way. Dress Prom has you covered when you’re looking for a dress, so you don’t have to worry too much about that. But what about the theme? If you’re on the homecoming committee, then you have a lot to think about! The important part of choosing a homecoming theme is to decide by voting. This way, everyone gets a fair chance to be a part of the event. Deciding on a theme well enough in advance will help you plan and execute the whole thing much easier.

Here are some of our favorite ideas:

-Underwater Escape

-The Oscars

-Western

-Under the Stars

-TV Land

-Superheroes

-Space Voyage

-The Circus

-Rock Around the Clock

-Over the Rainbow

-New York, New York

-Legends of Camelot

-Paris Nights

-Grease

-Around the World in One Night

-Feelin’ Groovy

  2. Being sexy

  3. Being unique

  4. Being bold

What do you do at dances?

  1. Hang out at the refreshment table

  2. Flirt with everyone

  3. Dance!

  4. Talk to people

What do you do with your hair?

  1. Just brush and curl it a bit

  2. Go to the salon and get it done

  3. Style it myself

  4. I’m going to dye it

How much makeup?

  1. Just some lip gloss, basically

  2. Going to the spa!

If you answered mostly 1’s:

You want to be comfortable. That’s great! Might we suggest wearing something like this adorable pleated mini dress!

If you answered mostly 2’s:

You want to be a little vixen. They better watch out when you show up in a short strapless homecoming dress.

If you answered mostly 3’s:

You want to be a true original. Try something from the Dimitra Exclusive collection. Can’t get them anywhere else!

If you answered mostly 4’s:

You want to be bold and daring. You can do that in a bright colored homecoming dress!

Be an Original in Dimitra Exclusive Prom!

Sep 16, 2010

It’s every girl’s worst nightmare. You find the perfect prom or homecoming dress, and you think you look absolutely fabulous. Then something horrible happens. Another girl at the dance is wearing the EXACT SAME THING.

Don’t let that happen.

Get your prom or homecoming dress from Dress Prom’s Dimitra Exclusive Prom line. These gowns are unique and amazing, and you’ll look like a movie star. Think of this line of dresses as your insurance on individuality. They’re called Dimitra Exclusive for a reason— they’re available exclusively at Dimitra Designs and Dress Prom. So the odds of someone wearing the same thing as you are pretty darn slim.

But what should you do if someone has the same dress anyway? Our best advice is for the two of you to just laugh it off. Spend a few minutes joking about how you each have great taste. After all, this kind of thing happens in Hollywood every once in a while, too. Remember when Pink and Shakira wore the same dress to the VMAs last year? They posed for pictures together, and they each brought a different style to the dress

So rock your gown and make it you!

Fall 2010 Dress Trends

Sep 3, 2010

fall formal dress promWe don’t like to think about it, either, but we have to admit that autumn is just around the corner.  Back to school season is in full swing, and it’s time to start thinking about your fall formal dresses.  There are lots of fun trends out there, and Dress Prom is here to keep you on the cutting edge of all things formal (and semi formal, of course).

We know that you like to look pretty all of the time, so we’re going to talk about trends for casual everyday dresses, too.  For casual occasions like this, it’s smart not to go overboard.  Casual dresses can be a little shorter to show off your legs.  Or you could opt for a longer dress with a bigger pattern.  You can pair casual dresses with some subdued accessories.  The key is to look casual and chic— not overdone.

Cocktail dresses are an important part of your semi formal wardrobe.  These dresses bridge the gap between casual and formal, so it’s important to choose a style that fits your body type.  You could try a tight-fitting dress with a simple design.  Avoid too many embellishments, since they might make the dress a little too formal.  Feathers and fur (or faux fur) are hot accessories for this season.

A fall evening formal dress should have a sophisticated design.  Choose darker colors like black, blue, or copper.
