If you’ve been wondering what the hue to watch is for the 2011 prom, don’t worry – DressProm.net has you covered.

According to our sources as well as all of the latest runway reports, the 2011 prom season is going to be all about….peach!

This warm, soft hue is flattering on all skin colors and offers a very romantic alternative to the more bold and basic dresses that you’re also seeing in style.

So where can you expect to see peach? Just about everywhere!

Peach accessories are great for adding a bit of warmth to an otherwise cool ensemble, so don’t be afraid to accessorize with this dazzling hue when you want to add some color to your look.

As for makeup, you can get peachy there too! Peach shades can instantly brighten up your face – but be careful to choose the shade that best compliments your complexion. Too light and you’ll look washed out. Too dark and you’ll look orangey.

Finally, and most importantly, the dress! Peach prom dresses are a fun and flirty way for you to style yourself for the 2011 prom and at DressProm.net, we have a few peach prom dresses that we’d love for you to see. Don’t Forget to Relax Before Prom!

Mar 29, 2011

Prom season can be a stressful one, especially if you find yourself coming down to the wire to find a dress, make a hair appointment, or submit your Homecoming Queen platform on time. Let’s face it – it’s crazy busy! But, amid all of the hustle and bustle, you should also be thinking about making some time to rid yourself of prom time stress. Frazzled nerves aren’t a great accessory to have on prom night.

Here are some of our favorite ways to unwind before the real prom preparation begins:

  • Read a good book. Pick something that YOU want to read for fun. Skip the school books and go for a best seller instead.
  • Have a movie marathon. Invite over your best girlfriends and enjoy popcorn with some of your favorite prom flicks!
  • Get a mani pedi. This is perfect for doing a few days before the prom – go for a gel manicure and pedicure for a no-chip finish.
  • Get a massage or a facial. Hey – if you’re scheduled for a mani-pedi, why not make a spa day of it? :)
  • Work out. Sometimes it’s a great thing to just sweat out all of the anxiety!
  • Take a yoga class. Not only will this help you keep trim and toned, but it’s also a great stress reliever!

Long Hair Styles for Prom

Mar 18, 2011

Long hair looks gorgeous in full, loose curls.

Long hair looks gorgeous in full, loose curls.

If you’ve got long hair and want to find the best style for prom, well, we know you’ve come to the right place. We’ve been watching runways, red carpets, and even the streets to spot hairstyles that can work with your unique hair type. Long hair has a lot of options, but don’t think that you’re limited to wearing it either in an updo or flowing free.

One of our favorite looks for prom this year is a low side ponytail. It’s flirty, sexy, and very feminine. Plus, it keeps your hair neat while you dance the night away. To get this look while keeping things interesting, make a ponytail but leave a few strands left out. Then, wrap those strands around the base of the ponytail to hide the tie. Add some curl if you’d like for a more romantic look.

Another great option is the braid. We know that braids are definitely a trend to watch, so wearing one (or several) on prom night will make you fashion forward. You have a lot of options when it comes to braids, so pick one that best fits your hair type and texture. Also, feel free to play with braids in updos or braids with hair accessories.

Finally, you can always go with the classic long curls look. This is super popular on the red carpet and we know you’ll look gorgeous on prom night if you wear this style. Just make sure to use some smoothing cream to tame any frizz and for a little more oomph, try using a root booster for additional volume.

Ahhh…the movies. Sometimes don’t you just wish that life could be more like one? well, when prom season rolls around, we tend to break out the popcorn and pop in some of our favorite prom-themed flicks in between getting ready for the big night. Prom scenes can range from super romantic to totally hilarious – it all depends on the film. So, if you’re looking for some great prom scenes to draw your prom night inspiration from, check out our top 5 list of favorite prom scenes (in no particular order):

Twilight (2008): Two words: Robert Pattinson. He’s absolutely gorgeous and he adores Kristen Stewart’s character Bella in this sci-fi love story. The gazebo scene is one of our favorites. Plus, how cute is it that he has Bella dance on his feet?

10 Things I Hate About You (1999): Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger make this 90’s film a must-see during prom season. Headstrong Kat (Stiles) and bad boy Patrick (Ledger) are a great couple with awesome chemistry, especially on prom night…though there are games afoot in this Shakespeare-inspired film.

High School Musical 3 (2008): OK, this film is just so much fun. Prom night is flashy and very, um, musical at East High and we know you’ll want to get up and dance and sing along as you watch your favorite characters share a night to remember.

Pretty in Pink (1986): Molly Ringwald plays Andie, a girl from the wrong side of the tracks in this 80’s film classic where she begins her prom night alone. But love prevails and her beau Blane confesses his love and then leaves the prom, only to have Andie chase after him. The parking lot scene? *SWOON*

Footloose (1984): Starring Kevin Bacon, this film is all about dancing. On prom night, city boy Ren rebels and organizes a night to remember, all while teaching his classmates how to dance. Everyone cuts, um, footloose in this great prom film that features some pretty hilarious 80’s dance moves :)
