2011 Tips & Trends in Fashion and Beauty

Dec 30, 2011

Throughout the past year we’ve seen a number of jaw dropping beauty tips and fashion trends that have made us stop and say “wow”. In this post we’ll discuss some of the best beauty and fashion tips and trends of 2011.

Fashion Tips and Trends:

  1. We often saw shirts and dresses featuring peter pan collars. This popular 2011 fashion trend could be moving with us into the New Year.
  2. Long dresses made from a sheer fabric were popular this past fall.
  3. The fall fashion trends of the past year brought us bright vibrant colors such as red, emerald green, royal blue, and different shades of purple. At we have royal blue, red, emerald green dresses and more!
  4. Print dresses were a must have in 2011. When you wear a printed dress it should be the focus of your outfit, don’t overwhelm the print with a lot of accessories.
  5. If we’ve learned anything, it’s that every woman should own at least one black dress.

Beauty Tips and Trends:

  1. Long wavy hair is hot, but creating extra bounce and volume is even hotter! Get the look by parting your hair to one side and clipping a small section of hair back on one side. The side part in itself was a popular beauty trend this year.
  2. Create a retro look with red lipstick, and a sophisticated look with a soft orange lipstick.
  3. Whether it’s eye shadow or lipstick, glittery gold makeup was a necessity for every makeup bag.
  4. Wear your hair in a side swept pony tail for a chic look that will stand out.
  5. We still love the fun nail polish trends of 2011. Some hot nail trends include the accent nail – painting one nail on each finger a different color than the rest, shatter nail polish, and bold designs.

What are some of your favorite fashion and beauty trends and tips from 2011? Let us know with a comment.

With Christmas fast approaching, and New Year’s Day directly afterwards, you’re bound to be invited to parties and other events – don’t refuse an invitation because you don’t know what to wear! Accept the invitation, and dress to impress with these helpful holiday dress ideas!asymmetrical dress

  • Cocktail dresses have always been “in,” but wearing an asymmetrical dress with one shoulder in a neutral color will make you stand out in a sea of green and red.
  • Channel your inner Santa with a deep scarlet shade dress – make this dress pop by choosing one with an embellished neckline or a sparkled skirt.
  • Wear a silver sequined shrug or cardigan over your favorite little black dress. If you want to stand out, ditch the silver sequins and choose a bright color like green or red.
  • An off the shoulder dress gives you a sexy air of elegance.
  • Feel luxurious as you show off your curves in a satin dress. There’s something about satin that makes a woman feel amazing.
  • Velvet is another material that can transform you as soon as you put it on. Think a dark red, thigh length dress made of velvet.
  • A sparkled dress can take you from looking like a plain Jane to being the glamorous fashionable icon in the center of the dance floor.
  • Don’t settle for any color green, choose a teal or emerald green dress and you’ll be the belle of the holiday ball.
  • Twirl around the dance floor in a dress decorated with ruffles, ribbons, bows or lace. Just make sure you don’t choose a dress with all four!
