Recycle those Old Prom & Homecoming Dresses for Halloween!

Aug 29, 2013

Are your old prom and homecoming dresses taking up space and collecting dust in your closet? Don’t waste them, wear them again! We all know that you can’t wear it to another prom or formal, but you can get creative and incorporate your old prom or homecoming gowns into your Halloween costumes! Not sure how you’d even start to create a costume out of your fancy, elegant gowns? Dress Prom can help! We have some awesome costume ideas that can take your old dress from collecting dust to a totally awesome, spook-tacular Halloween costume!

Prom Queen Zombie: We’re not telling you to rip your dress to shreds, but you can still pull off the half-dead, prom queen costume without completely ruining your gown. Grab some white, red, and gray face paint (you can find it at any seasonal costume store or party decoration store), and make yourself up like you’re straight out of The Walking Dead! Bring out your retired prom dress, add a ripped up sash that says “Prom Queen”, a broken tiara, and you’re on your way to scaring everyone in style!

Sassy Starlet: Have a really beautiful homecoming dress that reminds you of your favorite Hollywood celebrity? Dig it out and go as your favorite Sassy Starlet! Get a pair of long, white gloves, big rhinestone earrings, and plump your lips for the ultimate recycled Halloween costume!

Shimmering Mermaid: Those sequin homecoming dresses are beautiful to wear for one night, but what do you do when that one night is over? Grab that sparkling, dazzling gown, find that old seashell necklace that’s been hiding in your closet since you came back from vacation years ago, and add a little shimmering, blue eye shadow to complete your Mermaid costume!
