We all love the movies, but seeing a flick that’s focused on prom is just so much fun, especially if you’re gearing up for your own big day. So, if you love prom season as much as we do, make sure that you kick it off the right way by watching some of these fantastic films that feature our favorite event of the year: prom night!

Never Been Kissed

This movie focuses on Josie Gellar, a copy editor at The Chicago Sun-Times who decides to go undercover to write a story on today’s high schools. For her, this is a chance to do-over her own awful high school experience. Things are going great – until she falls for the teacher she’s supposed to be writing about and has to make a decision whether to stick to her story or follow her heart on prom night.

10 Things I Hate About You

The beautiful Bianca wants to date but her dad won’t let her until her older sister, Kat, does. There’s only one problem – Kat tends to scare off every boy she comes in contact with. Bianca’s love interest pays another social outcast, Patrick, to woo Kat so that he can take Bianca to the prom.

Footloose

This classic 80’s flick features the story of a city boy who moves to a country town where rock music and dancing are illegal. He decides to organize a prom to teach his friends how to dance, not to mention, score some points with a pretty girl in town. Then you know what happens — everyone cuts footloose!

Drive Me Crazy

This film is about a girl and boy-next-door (literally!). After her dream date asks someone else to the prom, Nicole has to find someone to make him feel jealous– fast. So, she looks to her grungy neighbor Chase to be her date and gives him a make over to make him ready for prom night. Neither Chase or Nicole could have predicted things to turn out so well.

Pretty in Pink

Everyone loves this classic 80’s movie that focuses on the story of a girl from the wrong side of the tracks and her prom night choice between her doting childhood sweetheart and a rich but sensitive playboy.

Want to make sure that you can reuse your prom dress or keep it looking perfect well after that special evening? Use these five tips for caring for your prom dress to keep your gown looking brand new for many proms to come:

1. Follow the care instructions included with you dress. In most cases, they’ll be “Dry Clean Only” which means you should NEVER try to wash your dress yourself. Take your gown only to a professional to be cleaned.

2. If you accidently get eye shadow, lipstick, or other makeup on your dress, dampen the stain with warm water and pretreat it by rubbing a little bit of liquid detergent. Rub the detergent directly into the stain until the outline is gone. Next, wash the spot in warm water and let dry. If you’re still stuck, take the dress to a dry cleaner. They may know the best way to get that stain out of your gown.

3. Store your gown in a garment bag that accommodates the natural size and shape of the gown. Keep the garment bag zipped or sealed to prevent any wear on the dress.

4. Have wrinkles on your gown? Have it professionally pressed or steamed to get it looking smooth again.

5. Finally, when you bring your dress home, make sure that it has plenty of space to breathe. Don’t shove it in a closet or corner. Make sure that it isn’t touching any other clothing and is out in the open. After it’s worn, then store it properly using a garment bag.

No matter what your age, you can always enjoy a sweet mocktail after your big occasion. Forget the rule breaking – you can still have as much fun after prom without getting in trouble by mixing up some mocktails that are delicious, fun, and totally alcohol free. The perfect ending to a perfect prom!

Sparkling Sunrise
To make this yummy mocktail, mix together ½ cup of orange juice, ½ cup of lemon-lime soda. Pour into a glass. Add 1 tablespoon of grenadine syrup and let it sink to the bottom. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Mock Champagne
Great for serving up after prom, this drink mixes together 2 bottles of ginger ale, 1 (46 oz) can of pineapple juice, and 1 bottle of white grape juice. Serve in a punch bowl and toast to a perfect prom!

Tornado Twist
This delicious drink has just enough zest. Mix together 1 part cranberry-raspberry juice and 1 part lemon-lime soda. Simple, easy, and totally fresh!
