Top Prom Websites identifies online retailers that sell authentic, high-quality prom dresses, and also points out sites that sell counterfeit or lesser-quality dresses. We feel strongly about only selling high-quality, designer prom dresses and formalwear. Logo Logo

It is because our goals are aligned with Top Prom Websites that we are so honored to not only be listed among the approved sites, but also to be listed on the “Hot List” on the site. Approval from Top Prom Websites means that we are recognized for selling only authentic, name brand dresses and accessories. At we believe it is important to be an authorized retailer of every brand we carry, and TPW makes a point of identifying online retailers who conform to those standards. The listing site has a rigorous criteria of checking Websites before they are approved. The site looks at photos of the dresses offered on its site, and verifying that the site is an authorized retailer for each designer listed. This process is done manually, by real, knowledgeable people, and not through an automated process.

We also appreciate that the same process is applied to identifying less reputable Websites, and listing those so that consumers can avoid those sites. We want every prom dress shopping experience to be a good one, whether shopping in our store or elsewhere in person or online. TPW helps ensure that all online experiences are positive, and we are so happy that our hard work and high standards in offering the best prom and formal dresses has been recognized. Please know that we follow all the criteria, not just to be included on the TPW approved sites list, but also because we believe in the level of service that TPW and you, as our customer, expects.

Planning the Prom: Your Guide to Prom Planning

So you’re part of the prom-planning committee, and now it’s time to start making decisions. is on hand to help you plan your perfect prom — from unique prom themes for 2017 to knockout prom decorations your class will remember forever. As a member of the prom committee, you’ll be responsible for contributing to the following:

  • Budgeting
  • Picking a theme
  • Choosing and booking a venue
  • Choosing and booking entertainment
  • Ordering food and drinks
  • Choosing a hashtag
  • Designing, purchasing and sending invitations
  • Setting ticket prices
  • Designing the décor
  • Decorating

The Most Important Prom-Planning Points

  • Pick a Theme! — OK, this is the fun part! The theme you choose totally determines all of your other prom-planning essentials, so you’ve got to pick your theme early. We love classic themes like Hollywood (because who doesn’t want a real red carpet at prom?) and Paris, but you can get creative with out-of-the-box 2017 prom themes like neon, carnival or candyland. Bonus: you can shop for your prom dress by theme for the perfect wardrobe.
  • Pick a Venue — Your venue should be guided by your theme, not the other way around. Early on in the prom-planning process, you need to establish a venue budget. Once you’ve got that squared away, you should start scouting venues. Make sure to have your venue booked at least six months in advance.
  • Nail Down Décor — Tip No. 1 for prom decorations: get cozy with the theater department. If you’re going for a place theme (like Paris, New York or Hollywood), then your school probably has some useful set decorations from plays past. You can also plan décor parties and make your own decorations at home.
  • Book Entertainment — Make sure to properly vet your DJ or live band, because there’s no prom disaster quite like having lame music! Book your entertainment at least three months in advance, and start researching at least six months in advance to make sure that your top choices aren’t booked on prom night.

Looking for a Prom Date? Here are some fun ways to ask that special someone!

Find some fun, creative ways to ask that special someone to be your prom date!

Find some fun, creative ways to ask that special someone to be your prom date!

Perhaps you have someone in mind that you’d like to ask to prom but are not sure how. You have your prom gown, but you’re still trying to figure out how to ask your date to go with you. First things first – get your confidence pants on, because getting the courage to ask someone to prom can be scary for some people; however it can also be a fun, unique way to show someone you care! We have some creative ways to ask the person you want to go to prom with the big question!

Send them a pizza – First of all, who doesn’t love pizza? Second of all, who doesn’t love a pizza being delivered to their house? Order a pizza from your local pizzeria and give specific directions to the delivery person to write your question on the box.   If you want to say it in a funny way, maybe try something like “I know this is cheesy, but will you go to prom with me?” You can even spell out the word “PROM?” in their favorite topping!

Balloons – There are so many ways to ask someone to prom with balloons! Tying them to their car with a little note, filling their locker with them, or have them pop a bunch of them to find the one with the card inside that asks them to go to with you are all really fun ways to ask them to prom. You can even get super creative and stuff all the balloons with notes in them, and at the end your future prom date has to solve the ultimate puzzle – you asking them to be your date!

Video – We’ve been seeing a lot of it lately, but asking your prom date to go with you through a YouTube video is sweeping the nation! If there’s a certain song that reminds you of your prom date, or even a funny sketch you’d like to perform, you can ask them literally anyway you can imagine with a video. You can film it anyway you’d like – just grab some friends, get creative, and ask away!

Can you Rock it? The Best Prom Dress Colors for Your Skin Tone

Oct 25, 2013

Find out which color fits your skin tone the best!

Find out which color fits your skin tone the best!

Whether you’re a redhead with pale skin and freckles, or you have an olive tone to your skin and dark hair, finding the right colors to match your skin tone can be tough.  At, we have the perfect tips on how to shop for your prom dress in 2014 so that it flatters you, your skin tone, and your personality in the best ways possible!

There are three different categories of undertones that your skin can fall under: cool, neutral, or warm. The way you figure this out is when you’re wearing a pure white shirt, or towel. If your skin has a yellow or gold kind of tone to it next to the white towel or shirt, you have warm undertones. If you have a green or grey skin tint to your skin, you have neutral undertones. If your skin gives off a pink, red, or blue glint, you have cool undertones. This is the way that makeup artists and fashion designers determine what color looks best on certain people.

Once you determine your undertones, you can then decide which color works best with your skin. A great way to determine which kind of shades and colors work best with your skin is to hold the color up to your face. If you are more of a cool-toned lady, a dress that is in a darker shade usually works best for your skin. Colors like white, emerald green, black, royal blue, navy blue, and red are some of your best picks for this type of skin tone. When you’re a warm undertone, the earthy, more natural colors work best with your glow. Try out a bronze, orange, cream, yellow, or bright green for your dress color. Once you determine which kind of dress works with you, the rest is truly up to the way you rock it!
