Apr 18, 2014

Try out our DIY Split End mask to heal those broken ends before prom night!

Try out our DIY Split End mask to heal those broken ends before prom night!

Don’t get upset about those split ends – you can take care of them before prom and skip a trip to the salon! With our DIY Split End Mask, your prom gown won’t be the only thing that’s glimmering – your locks will be too!

DIY Split End Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 Ripe Banana
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tbsp. Coconut Oil, virgin/organic
  • 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp. Organic Honey

Directions:

Before you start to mix this transformative hair mask up, take your banana, egg, and a small bowl, and mash together. Once this mixture is fully combined, add in your room temperature coconut oil, olive oil, and honey to the bowl. Mix these ingredients together until they are fully combined as well, making sure the mixture is smooth.

When this mixture is done, apply this mask to your ends (or full head) for at least 25 minutes. Once your time is up you can rinse the mixture out of your hair with cold water. Check out your split ends when you style your hair out – almost looks like you just left the salon chair with a fresh trim.

Looking for a Prom Date? Here are some fun ways to ask that special someone!

Apr 11, 2014

Find some fun, creative ways to ask that special someone to be your prom date!

Find some fun, creative ways to ask that special someone to be your prom date!

Perhaps you have someone in mind that you’d like to ask to prom but are not sure how. You have your prom gown, but you’re still trying to figure out how to ask your date to go with you. First things first – get your confidence pants on, because getting the courage to ask someone to prom can be scary for some people; however it can also be a fun, unique way to show someone you care! We have some creative ways to ask the person you want to go to prom with the big question!

Send them a pizza – First of all, who doesn’t love pizza? Second of all, who doesn’t love a pizza being delivered to their house? Order a pizza from your local pizzeria and give specific directions to the delivery person to write your question on the box.   If you want to say it in a funny way, maybe try something like “I know this is cheesy, but will you go to prom with me?” You can even spell out the word “PROM?” in their favorite topping!

Balloons – There are so many ways to ask someone to prom with balloons! Tying them to their car with a little note, filling their locker with them, or have them pop a bunch of them to find the one with the card inside that asks them to go to with you are all really fun ways to ask them to prom. You can even get super creative and stuff all the balloons with notes in them, and at the end your future prom date has to solve the ultimate puzzle – you asking them to be your date!

Video – We’ve been seeing a lot of it lately, but asking your prom date to go with you through a YouTube video is sweeping the nation! If there’s a certain song that reminds you of your prom date, or even a funny sketch you’d like to perform, you can ask them literally anyway you can imagine with a video. You can film it anyway you’d like – just grab some friends, get creative, and ask away!

Saving Money for Your Dream Prom Dress: What You Need to do in 4 Months

Feb 14, 2014

Save for your dream prom dress with these awesome tips & tricks!

Save for your dream prom dress with these awesome tips & tricks!

We know that saving money for your dream prom dress can be tough when you’re working, going to school, and trying to balance the rest of your life as well! At DressProm.net, we’ve consulted some of the best experts when it comes to stashing away cash so you can have the perfect prom dress this year without skimping!

  • Start by making a budget of everything you’ll need to have your dress dreams come true – this means taking into consideration alterations to the gown, accessories, and anything else you’ll need.
  • Next, compare how much you make weekly or biweekly to the amount you’re going to need for your gown.
    • Example – If you make $300 every two weeks, how much of that can go to a dress without you cutting yourself short for other expenses?
  • Planning out how much money you’ll need for all the necessary things – such as gas for your car, lunch money for school, etc. If you have monthly bills that you pay, you’ll want to divide the total amount into how much you’ll be paying per pay period. This will help you really see all of your expenses weekly and monthly.
  • Set aside a jar in your room and throw all your loose change in it. Put it somewhere that’s easily accessible so throwing change into it when you’re passing by is simple.
  • The money you are specifically putting away for your prom gown should go into a safe place. This could be a safety lock box or a specific savings account.
  • Make a chart of your goal so you can visibly see how far away from your goal you are. This can help you see how much progress you’ve made and how much more you have to go. Plus, it’s a great self-esteem booster to see all the goals you’re reaching!

Looking for the Prom After-Party? Check out these affordable and fun tips!

Looking for a more affordable prom after party? Check out our suggestions for fun things to do after the big dance!

Looking for a more affordable prom after party? Check out our suggestions for fun things to do after the big dance!

After the dance is over and your prom dress is turned in for a pair of jeans, you want to have some fun with your friends to complete your night to remember! Of course – prom can be a pricey event, so why not have some fun without spending all your cash? We have some great ideas for what you and your friends can do after prom that won’t break your bank, but still create memories for years to come.

  • The movies – Many movie theaters across the country are open until 12 a.m., and sometimes even have premiers for highly anticipated movies at that time too. Check out your local theater for a flick and maybe if you’re lucky – you’ll be able to see the premier of a great movie before anyone else!
  • Bowling – Maybe you’re not the best bowler around, but chances are your friends aren’t professionals either. Grab your date and a few of your closest friends for some fun, midnight bowling. Maybe even skip changing out of your prom garb and hit the lanes in your gowns & tuxes!
  • Breakfast – Maybe your prom gets out at 11 p.m. or later, and you’re all starving from dancing the night away. Make a stop at an all-night local diner for breakfast! Who doesn’t love eating pancakes, bacon, and eggs late at night?
  • Host a Movie Marathon – Maybe going to the movies is a little out of your prom budget. Why not host an all-night movie marathon at your house? Watching your favorite movies with some of your favorite friends can make for an awesome, after-prom fiesta.

From Prom Dresses to Eyeliner: What You Need to Know About Beauty

Jan 24, 2014

Snag these easy beauty tips to lighten your purse when you head out prom dress shopping!

Snag these easy beauty tips to lighten your purse when you head out prom dress shopping!

What do you pack in your purse for beauty purposes throughout the day? The average woman’s purse is close to 30 lbs. – yes, that much – but is it all necessary? We have some tips to help you cut down on all the beauty products you carry around in your purse! So when you’re shopping for prom dresses or just having a day out on the town, you can enjoy it without carrying around all that weight.

  • To prevent smudging your eyeliner throughout the day, blot your eyelids with an oil-removing tissue before applying eye makeup.
  • If you do smudge your eyeliner or mascara under your eye, dab a non-medicated chapstick underneath the eye and the makeup should come off with a tissue.
  • Having a static problem with your hair – or even worse – your skirt? Use a small amount of lotion (preferably ones with no dye involved) on either the outside of your legs/tights, or ends of your hair. The moisture will help nip static electricity in the bud!
  • Use a SPF moisturizer before you put on your makeup in the morning, even if it’s winter.
  • Make sure you check the labels of your chapstick before you buy them – some of the most popular brands contain alcohol, which dry out your lips.
  • Broke your favorite eye shadow? No problem! Empty the eye shadow crumbs out onto a paper towel, add just a bit of rubbing alcohol to the container, put the crumbs back in and press down until it’s all combined again!
  • Don’t throw away your mascara before it’s time, even if it seems like it may be all gone. Add a few drops of contact solution to the mascara tube; shake, and your mascara will be brought back to life! And also – this prevents clumping too.
