Make a Statement with Fabulous Florals

May 19, 2017

While floral prints may not be the first thing you think of when you think about prom dresses, this gorgeous trend is here to stay for the 2017 prom season. There is no doubt that floral prints have made a major resurgence in fashion in recent years. From bathing suits to casual wear to formal gowns, floral print isn’t just for your grandma anymore. This bold and feminine fashion statement adds a touch of personality and unique style to what is more traditionally a more toned down piece of clothing.

With so many choices out there, you’ll be able to choose exactly how much floral your wearing on what type of dress. Go more minimal and classic a floral embroidered bodice and solid-colored skirt or go all out with an allover bright floral print. There are also different style options such as high-low skirts, two-piece crop top dresses, short dresses, long dresses and more. Check out the entire floral print prom dress collection from PromDress.net to find your perfect gown.

This Two Piece Prom Gown by Rachel Allan is the perfect blend of elegant and bold. It features classic evening gown lines with a mermaid skirt with and understated flair and lace illusion long-sleeved top. It has been brought into modern times with a crop top fit and a bold and eye-catching floral pattern on the skirt. The bold floral colors are balanced by a solid-colored top to really bring the whole look together.

Another well-balanced floral print prom dress in a more classic ball gown shape is this Ball Gown Prom Dress by Madison James. This more classic representation of a prom dress artfully incorporates an understated floral print in the bodice and part of the way down the full skirt. The lovely navy coloring of the dress provides a nice contrast to the light whites and pinks of the printed roses. The dress is finished with a lovely open back with crossing straps.

10 Prom Photos You Need to Take

Dec 20, 2015

The big day is coming, and all you can think about is getting ready for the prom. Make time to plan for these 10 must-take photos, too.

1. The Try-On Shot

Tell a story with your prom photos, beginning with trying on dresses. Plus, this is a smart way to capture a photo in that dress you liked before you chose the one you will wear to the prom. Now you have photos of you in both dresses.

2. The BFF Shot

Take that best friend photo before the prom, when you are both relaxed and have practiced your favorite poses. Take several to allow each of you to pick a favorite.

3. The Accessories Photo

Get close-ups of those special shoes, handbag and prom jewelry. You want to remember every detail of your prom.

4. The ‘Before’ Shot

Take a photo of yourself and your date before the day of the prom. It will be fun to compare casual pictures to your dress-up photos. Plus, this is your opportunity to practice poses for the prom day pictures.

5. Relatively Speaking

Don’t forget those all-important pictures with mom, dad, siblings and even grandparents, favorite aunts, uncles and cousins. This is a big event for them, too.

6. Just For You

Traditional prom photos include dates or whoever else is escorting you. Also have photos taken of just you for your keepsake book and social media. You can show off the full effect of your dress and experiment with sitting or standing in front of pretty backdrops inside or outside.

7. That Sunset Shot

Often, people think prom photos during the day or at night. The light just before sunset offers the kind of soft lighting that creates attractive photos. Time an outside photo session just before you leave for the night’s prom activities or just before dusk a day or two before.

8. Entrance Photos

Remember: you’re telling a story. Pose for a picture at the entrance of the prom’s location to tell the story of your arrival. Plus, you’ll look fresh and excited, having just arrived.

9. Lights. Camera. Action.

Don’t just rely on that formal pose for prom photos inside the door. Look for places in the room with soft lighting and a pretty backdrop for a planned action photo.

10. About That Posed Photo

What looks corny to you now will be enjoyed later as a memorable photo in front of the set-up prom staging area where everyone gets a prom picture taken. Plus, it will be fun to later compare your photos to photos of your friends taken at the same spot.

Prom Beauty 101: Applying your makeup the right way

Jun 5, 2014

Find out if you’re applying your makeup correctly with 10 simple steps!

Find out if you’re applying your makeup correctly with 10 simple steps!

When you’re applying your makeup before prom or any big event, you’re going to want it to last the whole night, right? When you’re dancing the night away in your gorgeous Alyce Designs gown, the last thing you want to be worrying about is if your eyeliner isn’t running down your cheeks. We have the right way to apply your makeup so it will stay for longer and look fabulous no matter what event you’re headed to!

  1. Wash your face with a cleansing facial wash, depending on your skin type. Pat your face dry with a clean towel.
  2. Next, use a toner if you have especially dry skin. This helps to get rid of any clogged pores, extra oil and dirt, and keep your skin looking fresh.
  3. Apply your moisturizer with SPF already in it. This will help keep your skin safe from the sun’s harmful rays and keep it supple.
  4. Next, you’ll apply your makeup primer.
  5. After your primer sets into your skin, dot your concealer on to your blemishes and/or dark circles. You’re going to want to blend this in as best as you can with a foam blender pad or a flat-tipped brush.
  6. Next comes your foundation. Make sure you’re applying a foundation that can be layered and not look too thick. You’ll want to apply this to your face and neck.
  7. After you’ve blended your foundation, apply your bronzer/highlighter. Apply these to your cheek bones, bridge of your nose, and point of your chin. Blend with a foam blender pad.
  8. Once your bronzer is blended, add your blush to the apples of your cheeks.
  9. Next, add your eye makeup. This includes your eyeliner, eye shadow, and mascara. Usually starting with the liner and working your way to the mascara is the best sequence, but your eye makeup should always be applied close to the end of your makeup application.
  10. Lastly, you’re going to want to apply the lipstick or lip gloss portion of your makeup routine. Make sure your lips are clean and exfoliated before you apply, and you’ll have long-lasting lips for the whole night.

Find some fun and creative ways to reuse your prom 2014 gown!

Are you looking for new, fun, and creative ways to re-use or recycle old prom dresses? Luckily – we not only have a special interest in offering the best selection of prom dresses, but we also have a bunch of different ways you can get more than one use out of your prom 2014 gown! Here are some interesting ways you can dust off that magic dress and get it glammed up for a second round!

Throw a retro themed party – Maybe your dress isn’t considered retro just yet, but you still want to throw a fun, vintage themed prom party. You can literally use any one of your old prom dresses, throw on some converse, and crimp your hair to go with an 80’s themed prom party. Even if you do have a vintage dress – it doesn’t matter what era you go with, just get creative and invite all your friends!

Save it for Halloween – Why not be a Zombie Prom Queen when you head out for Halloween that year? Halloween is one of the best holidays to dig out the stuff you don’t wear on a regular basis and turn them into an unforgettable costume. Some of our favorite costume ideas to use your old prom gown for are Retro Prom Queen, Old Hollywood Starlet, or your favorite Childhood Princess are just a few.

Create something from the fabric – This is something for those who are a little more daring and crafty with a sewing machine, but creating memory quilt from the fabric can be a great way to reuse your old prom gown. If you’re not looking to cut it up completely, getting it framed and mounted into a shadow box can be a fun way to remember your gown too.

Looking for a Prom Date? Here are some fun ways to ask that special someone!

Apr 11, 2014

Find some fun, creative ways to ask that special someone to be your prom date!

Find some fun, creative ways to ask that special someone to be your prom date!

Perhaps you have someone in mind that you’d like to ask to prom but are not sure how. You have your prom gown, but you’re still trying to figure out how to ask your date to go with you. First things first – get your confidence pants on, because getting the courage to ask someone to prom can be scary for some people; however it can also be a fun, unique way to show someone you care! We have some creative ways to ask the person you want to go to prom with the big question!

Send them a pizza – First of all, who doesn’t love pizza? Second of all, who doesn’t love a pizza being delivered to their house? Order a pizza from your local pizzeria and give specific directions to the delivery person to write your question on the box.   If you want to say it in a funny way, maybe try something like “I know this is cheesy, but will you go to prom with me?” You can even spell out the word “PROM?” in their favorite topping!

Balloons – There are so many ways to ask someone to prom with balloons! Tying them to their car with a little note, filling their locker with them, or have them pop a bunch of them to find the one with the card inside that asks them to go to with you are all really fun ways to ask them to prom. You can even get super creative and stuff all the balloons with notes in them, and at the end your future prom date has to solve the ultimate puzzle – you asking them to be your date!

Video – We’ve been seeing a lot of it lately, but asking your prom date to go with you through a YouTube video is sweeping the nation! If there’s a certain song that reminds you of your prom date, or even a funny sketch you’d like to perform, you can ask them literally anyway you can imagine with a video. You can film it anyway you’d like – just grab some friends, get creative, and ask away!
